David Nicholls, One Day
Today’s quote comes from my favorite book. It is quite actually my most favorite book of any time, any genre.
I have read this book exactly twice in my life. Once when I was in my early twenties, in the midst of all the post secondary confusions. I enjoyed reading the book then but I didn’t really understand most of what they were trying to say.
I love this quote because, for me, it’s one line that is filled with so much youthful optimism. It says that everything you ever wanted from life is still all ahead of you, and that makes me happy. I still feel like that some days. And that’s just it. Every day we are alive, there’s a chance that something wonderful will happen that day, or the day after that. The most wonderful thing to ever happen to you could still be out there, somewhere ahead. And that makes it all worthwhile, right?
God, I love this book. Probably on my list of To-Read-Again-Soon.
